The Richmond City Council EHS committee met on January 16th and February 13th, 2025. Here is a summary of the activity from the meetings.
Meeting Highlights
Homelessness crisis: The council discussed the ongoing homelessness crisis in Richmond. They heard from several experts and advocates. They also discussed various potential solutions. There was a focus on the lack of capacity for beds on the provider side. They discussed engaging with churches to provide additional space. Additionally, they talked about how to address mental health amid the housing crisis and the possibility of coordinating with hospitals.
