City Council Updates: Richmond Planning Commission Meeting Summary - February 18, 2025

Key Decisions and Adopted Items:

  • Election of Officers: Commissioner Poole was re-elected as Chair, and Commissioner Greenfield as Vice Chair.

  • PlanRVA Representative: Commissioner Knight was appointed as the Planning Commission representative.

  • Urban Design Committee Representative: Commissioner McKenzie was appointed as the representative.

  • Special Use Approvals:

    • 1001 Barlen Drive: Approved for up to two single-family homes.

    • 3310 Q Street: Approved for two two-family homes with accessory dwelling units.

    • 2811 Rady Street: Approved for four multifamily buildings with up to 352 units.


Upcoming Items & Continuing Discussions:

  • 5009 & 5015 Snead Road: Proposal for 180 multifamily units and a clubhouse was postponed to March 4, 2025.

  • 7100 Jahnke Road: A mixed-use development proposal was postponed to April 1, 2025.

  • 3310 Q Street: One person from the Church Hill Central Civic Association opposed.

  • 2811 Rady Street: One person spoke in favor.
